PIA aims to make use of electronics ban on US, UK-bound flights

In a Twitter post, the national airline apprised potential passengers about being unaffected by the recent ban on carrying large electronic devices (laptops, cameras etc) by the US on flights coming in from up to a dozen countries.

“Did you know? You can carry your laptop/tablets onboard US-bound #PIA flights,” the national flag-bearer tweeted.

The electronics ban affects flights from international airports in Amman, Jordan; Kuwait City, Kuwait; Cairo, Egypt; Istanbul, Turkey; Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Casablanca, Morocco; Doha, Qatar; and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The rule will be effective from Tuesday and the airlines will have until 3 am Saturday to implement it or be barred from flying to the United States.

The British government also banned passengers flying directly to Britain from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Turkey from carrying laptops and tablet computers in the plane cabin.
