100MW additional power to be imported from Iran for Gawadar

ISLAMABAD: The government is mulling over importing 100 MW of additional electricity from Iran to meet the growing demand for electricity in Gawadar city.

According to official sources, at present power demand of Gawadar area was being met through import of 104 MW power from Iran through 132kv interconnection lines between Pakistan and Iran.

In addition, installation of 300 MW imported coal-based power plant at Gawadar has also been planned under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, the sources added.
