PFC delegation leaves for Turkey to participate in 6-days Fair

ISLAMABAD: A twenty five-member delegation of Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Saturday left for Turkey to participate in 6-day ‘Modef Fair’ for exploring new investment avenues in Turkish markets to enhance furniture exports besides strengthening bilateral trade between the two countries.

While seeing off the delegation at the airport here, PFC Chief Mian Kashif Ashfaq said Turkey was a gateway to Europe and could provide huge opportunities to the Pakistani exporters to market their products in EU countries including Pak-handmade furniture which is in great demand globally in collaboration with Turkish companies. PFC Secretary Hamid Mahmood was also present on the occasion, according to PFC press release issued here.

He further said Turkish furniture companies were keen to strengthen trade with PFC as both countries inherited good potential to enhance bilateral cooperation in furniture sector by enhancing trade and economic relations.

He said that the businessmen should understand each other to cultivate deep-rooted and sustained business relations.

He said that in Pakistan most of the furniture was hand-made but still it was very cheap and could be marketed in EU countries at a high price.

In this connection, Turkish firms could also play a major role in facilitating Pakistani manufacturers to have direct access to the potential customers. He said that Turkish firms have 2000 showrooms in Turkey and 1000 in Europe with a total turnover of $ 5 billion per annum. Mian Kashif said in Modef Fair all kinds of modern and classic furniture products were being displayed and the delegation would have an in-depth discussion with their counterparts in Turkey.

He said that the leading furniture outlets and factories, as well as workshops, would also be visited for equipping with latest trends and modern designs.

The PFC was focusing on marketing activities in key foreign markets including United States, Japan, European Union, and the Gulf region, he added.

A concerted action was being taken for holding exhibitions, promoting websites, organising international trade fairs and in-depth market analysis, he added.

He said that the PFC would also invite Turkish furniture producers to the three-day 9th mega “Interior Pakistan” furniture exhibition in Pakistan starting from December 15 at Expo Centre, Lahore.

The PFC chief executive added that participation in international shows should be deemed imperative for furniture exports.
