E&T dept collected Rs14811.5m taxes in first 3 months of FY 2017: Mukesh Kumar

KARACHI: Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control (ET&NC) Sindh Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that the excise department collected Rs 14811.599 million in various taxes in first three months of the current fiscal year i-e from July to September 2017, while last year in same period Rs 13490.519 million were received.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting in his office here on Tuesday. Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting.

While briefing the meeting, ET& NC DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that Rs 1825 million were collected in term of Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs 3305.472 million in term of infrastructure cess, Rs 32.120 million in professional tax and Rs 233.603 million in term of property tax was recovered. He added, ‘The remaining amount was got in heads of various other taxes and the officers concerned have been directed to speed up their efforts to achieve the target’.

Mukesh Kumar Chawla while lauding the performance of the officers, asked them to perform their duties honestly and not to give a single chance of complaint in the collection of the taxes. ‘Good behaviour can solve many problems and their friendly attitude can better soft image of the government as well,’ he concluded.
