Petroleum production increases by 11.62pc

ISLAMABAD: The production of petroleum products witnessed 11.62 per cent increase during the first five months (July-November) of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

According to latest data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the petroleum products that contributed in positive growth included motor spirits, the output of which grew by 13.31 per cent during the period under review.

The production of high-speed diesel grew by 12.19 per cent, production of diesel oil grew by 45.38 per cent while the output of furnace oil witnessed a growth of 12.18 per cent. Similarly, the production of jute batching oil increased by 28.80 per cent, production of solvent naptha increased by 15.59 per cent and the production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) increased by 38.86 per cent.

The petroleum products that witnessed negative growth in production included jet fuel, the output of which decreased by 5.48 per cent, kerosene oil which decreased by 8.22 percent and lubricating oil which declined by 15.83 per cent.

Meanwhile, on Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, the production of petroleum products increased by11.62 per cent during the month of November 2017 against the production of the same period of last year.
