Boat pilot strike at Karachi port suspends services

KARACHI: The in and out services of ships at the Karachi port have been suspended as boat pilotsĀ have gone on a strike demanding payments of their due allowances.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) administration has sought the help of police to arrest the boat pilots from their residences as Sea good vessels are waiting in long queues at the port.

On the other hand, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has appealed to the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ministry of Ports and Shipping to take steps to end the strike immediately.

FPCCI Vice President Waheed Ahmad said that the economy of the country cannot afford the closure of the most important port of the country. He appealed to the KPT administration to take steps on a war footing to solve the problem.
