Public-private partnership critical for bilateral growth with China

ISLAMABAD: Senate Deputy Chairman Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has said that Chinese investors should benefit from the investment potential in Pakistan and explore the possibilities of public-private partnership for initiation of joint projects in various fields, enabling enhanced bilateral ties, and people to people contacts.

He expressed these views in meeting with a three-member Chinese delegation headed by Zhang Junbo here at the Parliament House on Friday.

Deputy Chairman Senate said there is a conducive environment for investment in Pakistan and huge potential for joint ventures with the private sector. Chinese companies need to invest in private sectors in Pakistan by collaborating with local companies.

He said that historic friendship between Pakistan and China has remained beneficial for both countries in economic and strategic terms. Deputy Chairman Senate said that the friendship between the two countries stood the test of the time and the bilateral relationships are on a positive trajectory. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla emphasised the need for increased exchange of visits at the business community level for exploring new avenues for cooperation.

Deputy Chairman said that the people of Pakistan are proud of China’s socio-economic progress and are looking forward to further strengthening their mutually beneficial partnership.

The leader of the delegation agreed with the views of the Deputy Chairman and stressed the need for further boosting economic cooperation between the two sides. Members of the delegation informed the Deputy Chairman about their plans to invest in different projects in Pakistan.
