Advance tax on economy international air tickets to be exempted: FBR

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) stated it has exempted advance tax on the purchase of an international air ticket of economy class.

As per a report by PkRevenue, the Withholding Tax Card 2018-19 reveals withholding tax on air ticket would be deducted under the Section 236L of Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

Also, this withholding tax would be adjustable against total liability of individual purchasing the ticket, said the report.

  1. The advance tax should only be exempted on tickets of Pakistani airlines. This will in turn give a substantial boost to the suffering aviation industry of Pakistan.

  2. i bought economy tickets of an international airline for travelling abroad in july, 2018….can i claim of rebate of Advance tax (if any ) deducted recovered from me?
