Toyota slashes Fortuner prices by up to PKR 2.5 million

In a rare move, Toyota’s limited-time price cuts bring Fortuner G and V models under Rs 12.5 and Rs 15 million respectively

ISLAMABAD: Toyota has made a bold move in the Pakistani automotive market by drastically reducing the prices of its flagship SUV, the Toyota Fortuner, in celebration of its 35 years of operations in the country. This limited-time campaign, titled “Built to be Unbeatable,” marks one of the most significant price reductions in recent years, bringing both the Fortuner G and Fortuner V variants down by over PKR 2.5 million each.

These cuts take the prices below their previous base prices, which is a rare move in Pakistan’s SUV segment. Both variants of the Fortuner are now significantly more affordable, especially for consumers who may have been hesitant about the high price tags typically associated with premium SUVs in the country.

The Fortuner G had a previous price of Rs 14,939,000. Its special price is Rs 12,435,000. This represents savings of PKR 2,504,000. Meanwhile, the Fortuner V had a previous price of Rs 17,509,000. Its special price is Rs 14,935,000. The savings amount to Rs 2,574,000.

The price reduction comes at a time when Pakistan’s automotive industry is experiencing a downturn. The combination of inflation, expensive financing options, and a weakening currency has led to lower demand for vehicles, especially in the premium SUV category. Toyota’s strategy is likely a response to this market condition, aiming to reignite interest in the Fortuner, which is known for its durability, off-road performance, and strong resale value.

This price reduction could attract buyers who were previously leaning towards smaller or mid-range SUVs, making the Fortuner more accessible. It could also bring new competition into the premium SUV segment, as the Fortuner now sits in a more competitive price range relative to other popular models in Pakistan.

Toyota’s price cut comes as the market is also seeing increased interest in electric and hybrid vehicles, which may affect the long-term growth of traditional fuel-based SUVs.

Given that the Fortuner’s price now sits closer to crossover and mid-range SUVs, it is likely to capture the attention of consumers looking for off-road capability, luxury features, and durability, all at a more affordable price.

With a limited-time and limited-quantity offer, potential buyers are urged to act quickly before stock runs out. The reduced prices may reshape the competitive landscape in the premium SUV market and provide Toyota with an edge in attracting new customers during a time of economic uncertainty.
