Pakistan to get $7.5bn loan from Asian Development Bank

ISLAMABAD: Contrary to the claims of breaking the begging bowl, the Abbasi-led federal government is all set to receive mammoth a $ 7.15 billion loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the next three years.

According to details, ADB has issued country operations plan for the next three years. The aforementioned loan would be for projects related to energy, transport, education and health sectors.

Meanwhile, $ 2.28 billion would be spent on the energy sector, $ 1.76 billion for transport, $ 1.68 billion clean water and urban uplift projects, $ 1 billion for the agriculture sector and rural uplift projects, $ 250 million for the education sector, $ 200 million for Information Technology-related projects and $ 120 million for the health sector.

ADB would also provide funds for remodelling of the canal system in Punjab and uplift of the educational system in Sindh.
