In a major step towards sustainable urban growth, the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab), is set to install solar panels on the pedestrian walkway of the CBD Walton Railway Crossing Flyover along CBD Route 47.
This project aims to generate up to one megawatt of electricity, marking a significant advancement in integrating clean energy solutions with modern infrastructure.
The pedestrian walkway, featuring CNC panels on both sides of the flyover, will support this innovative solar energy system. This initiative is part of CBD Punjab’s ongoing commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and implementing forward-thinking urban planning, according to a press release issued by the authority on Saturday.
Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab, emphasized the authority’s focus on promoting green energy practices alongside ambitious infrastructure goals. “CBD Punjab is resolute in its pursuit of sustainable urban solutions.
The installation of solar panels atop the Walton Railway Crossing Flyover exemplifies our vision for a future driven by energy efficiency and environmental stewardship,” Amin stated.
Additionally, Imran Amin highlighted the authority’s concurrent efforts in rainwater harvesting, further underlining CBD Punjab’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and enhancing natural resource management across the region.
