The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the five-year business development plan 2025-30 to address the province’s future energy challenges and increase revenue by selling electricity generated from hydropower in the national grid and the open market.
The plan also outlines strategies for selling power from the province’s own resources and ongoing projects.
The launch took place at PEDO – Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization House in Peshawar, in collaboration with SEED, an energy sector consulting firm.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Engineer Tariq Sadozai, Secretary Energy & Power Zubair Khan, Special Secretary Ahmed Zeb, CEO PEDO Engineer Habibullah Shah, SEED representatives Sohail Zaidi and Osama, and other officers and employees attended the ceremony.
Special Assistant Tariq Sadozai described the plan as a milestone for the province’s energy sector. He said it would enable the sale of electricity from completed and ongoing PEDO projects through direct supply to the open market, sales to the national grid, and the wheeling model, while also boosting provincial revenue.
CEO PEDO Engineer Habibullah Shah and SEED representative Sohail Zaidi highlighted that the plan is significant for financing future energy projects and will support revisions of tariffs for electricity from existing power plants. At the conclusion of the event, SEED handed over the finalized energy plan documents to the Special Assistant, Secretary Energy, and CEO PEDO.
