PAA denies Islamabad airspace closure, confirms normal flight operations

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Friday clarified that Islamabad’s airspace remains open and all flights at Islamabad International Airport are operating normally and on schedule.

The statement comes after social media posts reported loud explosions in Islamabad, alleged drone interceptions, and claimed the city’s airspace had been closed, sparking concern among passengers.

Earlier on Friday, the PAA had briefly acknowledged a short operational disruption at the airport, in a statement that was later deleted. It said minor adjustments to flight operations were made for operational reasons, but all flights have now resumed routine schedules.

“Reports circulating about the closure of Islamabad’s airspace are baseless,” the PAA said, advising passengers to contact their airlines for updated flight information.

The authority stressed that normal flight operations are fully restored and no airspace shutdown occurred.
