US Embassy cancels visa appointments in Pakistan through March 20

The US Embassy in Pakistan has cancelled all immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments through March 20, according to an announcement made on Friday.

In a statement posted on X, the embassy said affected applicants will receive email instructions on how to reschedule their appointments.

The embassy advised applicants to check the status of their visa appointments through the US visa services website for updates.

Despite the cancellation of visa appointments, the embassy said it will remain operational to provide routine and emergency consular assistance to US citizens.

The statement also confirmed that all consular services at the US Consulate General in Karachi and the US Consulate General in Lahore remain suspended.

No explanation was provided for the cancellation of visa appointments or the suspension of services at the two consulates, and the embassy did not indicate when normal operations would resume.

The United States maintains diplomatic missions across Pakistan that handle visa processing and provide consular support to American citizens. Officials said the temporary suspension of visa appointments may affect applicants planning travel to the United States in the coming weeks.
