Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Turkish Airlines have signed the expanded codeshare agreement promising to expand cooperation and facilitating each other’s passengers to next destinations of connecting flights beginning February 1st, reported a national daily.
“The expanded codeshare cooperation provides passengers with more feasible connections as well as seamless travel opportunities between and beyond destinations of Turkey and Pakistan,” stated Turkish Airlines in a statement after the agreement was signed.
The agreement will allow Turkish airlines to market PIA flights from Karachi and Islamabad to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat and from Lahore to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with its own code and flight number. In return, PIA pledges to market Turkish Airline flights beyond Istanbul’s usual travel points of Atlanta, Johannesburg, Athens, Amsterdam, Tashkent, Moscow, Miami, Boston, Houston, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago with its own code and flight number. This is in line with the already agreement of shared codes for Istanbul to Islamabad /Lahore/ Karachi routes.
The CEO’s of both airlines believe that the agreement is an attempt to allow passengers to fly with easier and shorter connections and comfortable travel opportunities.
