Government raises petrol price by Rs4.40, diesel by Rs3.62 per litre for July 24

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday increased the price of petrol by Rs4.40 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.62 per litre for July 24, 2026, under the revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the new daily pricing mechanism, effective July 24, 2026.

Under the revised prices, petrol (motor spirit) has been increased from Rs327.12 per litre to Rs331.52 per litre, reflecting a hike of Rs4.40 per litre.

Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised from Rs375.04 per litre to Rs378.66 per litre, an increase of Rs3.62 per litre.

The latest revision comes as Pakistan continues to implement the newly introduced daily fuel pricing mechanism, under which OGRA revises petroleum prices on a day-to-day basis in line with movements in international oil prices and exchange rate fluctuations.

The revised prices will be effective for July 24, 2026.

The increase in petrol prices is expected to raise transportation costs for private motorists and motorcycle users, while the hike in diesel prices is likely to have broader economic implications, as HSD is widely used by heavy transport vehicles, buses, agricultural machinery, tube wells and goods carriers.

The government has maintained that the daily pricing mechanism is intended to ensure domestic petroleum prices more closely reflect changes in global oil markets while reducing delays in passing international price movements on to consumers.
