PARC, China’s FAMSUN plan agricultural technology display park in Pakistan
Proposed facility will showcase advanced farming technologies, support joint research and training, and connect researchers, farmers, businesses and investors.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and China’s FAMSUN Group have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to explore the establishment of a technology display park at PARC.
The agreement was signed by Chairman PARC Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi and Chief Executive Officer of FAMSUN Group Mr. Jack Chen.
The proposed FAMSUN Technology Display Park will serve as a platform for demonstrating advanced agricultural engineering solutions and supporting research collaboration, professional training, technology transfer and knowledge exchange.
It is also expected to bring together government institutions, academia, industry, investors, researchers, farmers and entrepreneurs.
Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said the agreement formed part of the government’s efforts to modernise agriculture through international partnerships and advanced technologies.
He said Pakistan needed modern solutions and global expertise to improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and increase value addition.
The minister added that cooperation with FAMSUN could strengthen agricultural research and create opportunities for investment and industrial collaboration.
Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi said the facility would be the first dedicated platform of its kind at PARC to display agricultural engineering technologies from an international company.
He said the partnership would help connect scientific research with industrial technologies and provide researchers, scientists, students, farmers and agribusinesses with access to international expertise and collaborative research opportunities.
Mr. Jack Chen expressed confidence in Pakistan’s agricultural potential and acknowledged PARC’s role as the country’s leading agricultural research organisation.
He said FAMSUN was interested in developing a long-term partnership with Pakistan through innovation, knowledge sharing and joint initiatives supporting sustainable agricultural development.
The agreement was facilitated by Rana Tanveer Hussain, with support from the Secretary, Ministry of National Food Security & Research, as part of efforts to attract international agricultural technology and investment to Pakistan.
