PIA German CEO goes on leave

Amidst the persisting management issues faced by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the company has decided to send its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernd Hildenbrand on a leave although he is not allowed to leave the country.

The German national has been on the Exit Control List (ECL) for some time now owing to a pending investigation involving  the leasing of  A330 aircraft from Sri Lankan Airline on inflated rates in comparison to prevailing market rates and for  selling a PIA Airbus A310 aircraft to a German museum in violation of the rules and regulations.

In his absence, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Nayyar Hayat will look after the charge as Acting CEO. Industry sources are reported to have said that the CEO will be facing an FIA inquiry during the leave period.
