PM youth loan scheme outlay registers growth of 107pc in Oct-Dec 2016 quarter: SBP report

According to a State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) quarterly report released this Friday, it has been revealed that three quarters of loan outlay under the Prime Ministers Youth Business Loan (PMYBL) scheme had been procured in Punjab province. As per data available from the report, it came to light that until end of December last year, 75pc or 55,838 applications were from Punjab province and the rest of the 25pc were divided among the other three provinces Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

SBPs report mentioned that “Almost a similar trend prevails as far as the disbursement of loans under the scheme is concerned. Punjab has the share of around 75pc in total loans disbursed under the PMYBL followed by KP and Sindh with a share of 9pc and 8pc, respectively,” The share of loan disbursements for Balochistan, Islamabad , Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir was recorded at 2pc respectively for the quarter Oct-Dec 2016.

The major contributor to the PMYBL scheme was National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and according to the report Rs 9.14b was disbursed in the period Oct-Dec 2016 translating into a growth of 107pc for the current quarter in comparison to the previous one.
