Comprehensive policy being formulated to improve water storage capacity says: Govt

Islamabad: The government is pursuing a comprehensive plan to increase the water storage capacity and improve underground water recharge. In a statement, the Ministry of Water Resources said the irrigation department of Balochistan had initiated a number of small and medium dam projects for conserving flood water, recharging underground water, agriculture development and drinking requirements in various districts of the province.

A feasibility study is being conducted through consultants throughout the province for identifying 20 potential dam sites. The ADB is providing technical assistance to Balochistan for the feasibility study of water resources development projects in two basins including the Zhob River Basin.
