NEPRA approves Rs 1.82/unit cut in power price

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction in power tariff by Rs 1.82 per unit on account of fuel price adjustment for the month of August 2017.

NEPRA made this decision of reprieve during a hearing held on Tuesday over the application of central power purchasing agency (CPPA), seeking fuel cost adjustment. With effect to NEPRA’s decision, power consumers will be allowed a relief of approximately above Rs 22 billion, which will be adjusted in next month’s electricity bills.

According to NEPRA, the decision of fuel adjustment for the month of August 2017 will not be applicable to those domestic consumers of electricity who use 300 units a month. Similarly, agricultural consumers and power consumers of K-Electric will not benefit from the decision of power sector regulatory authority-NEPRA.
