TDAP’s immediate restructure demanded

The Businessmen Panel of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) demanded that Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) should be restructured on immediate basis and device a clear trade promotion policy for the exporters of the country.

The office-bearers of the Businessmen Panel, Khawaja Shahzeb Akram, Mian Usman Zulfiqar and Ahmad Jawad in a statement here on Sunday, said that Commerce Ministry may fill the vacant position of the chief executive officer (CEO) of the authority on priority with competent, full time and non controversial person.

They said, “We must understand it’s the mandate of the TDAP to address the trade diplomacy rightly with our trading partners in the light of our FTAs and PTAs.”

The said it was the duty of the TDAP to develop and promote export holistically, through focus, synergy and with collective wisdom and counsel of its stakeholders in addition to aggressive, innovative and proactive marketing and promotional efforts to achieve the objective of rapid export growth.

They stated the government has so far made no decision on the appointment of the new chief executive which was a matter of concern. ‘We hope the merit will prevail for this important assignment’.

Criticizing the performance of its former CEO, they said that the organisation required a full-time executive as SM Muneer did nothing for exports during his three years tenure.
