Planning Minister calls for expansion of cooperation on CPEC project

ISLAMABAD: Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called for expansion of cooperation and administrative structure of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He was speaking at the 7th meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee of CPEC here on Tuesday.

The Minister said apart from infrastructure and energy, projects relating to social, education and health sectors are also being made part of the CPEC.

He said most of the energy projects under CPEC are successfully moving towards the culmination.

He expressed the confidence that industrial cooperation under CPEC would lead towards the transfer of technology, expertise and knowledge to Pakistan for promoting the knowledge-based economy.

The Minister pointed out that early harvest projects under CPEC have entered into a crucial phase of implementation.

He said soon Pakistan and China would start an exchange of delegations of businessmen and traders.

Referring to projects of CPEC in Gwadar, he said these would help transform a lot of the area and local people.

National Development and Reform Commission of China Vice Chairman will be leading the Chinese delegation at the meeting.

The meeting is being attended by Chief Ministers of KPK, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK Prime Minister and Punjab Minister for Planning and Development.
