Austrian envoy assures cooperation in clean energy development

ISLAMABAD: Planning, Development and Reform Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar on Tuesday appreciated the Austrian cooperation in different hydroelectric and energy projects across Pakistan.

The minister was talking to Ambassador of Austria to Pakistan Brigita Blaha, who called on him at his ministry in Islamabad.

Bakhtiar said that the government was focusing on producing energy through hydroelectric projects and indigenous coal in order to minimise the dependence on imported fuel and to reduce the cost and provide relief to the masses. He hoped that the energy prospects would improve with the completion of various ongoing power projects.

The minister expressed optimism that Austria would also cooperate in providing technical expertise for capacity building of domestic companies. He said that Pakistan has huge potential in hydro and renewable power generation and it expected Austria to invest in various energy sector initiatives.

Envoy Brigita Blaha appreciated the vision of the government and assured complete cooperation in clean energy development.
