Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday inaugurated Havelian-Thakot section of Hazara motorway.
The Hazara motorway is an integral part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project which will serve as a central route for commercial traffic between the two countries, Radio Pakistan reported.
Approximately seven million people, mostly residents of Hasan Abdal, Haripur, Havelian, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Northern areas, will directly benefit from the major thoroughfare.
It will also help boost tourism, providing access to Mansehra, Naran valley and Gilgit Baltistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the PM criticised the opposition parties for their recently concluded ‘Azadi March’.
Referring to the opposition sit-in in the federal capital as ‘circus’, the premier recalled he had said on the first day after taking power that all the corrupt will unite under one banner and try to stop the accountability process.
“Those who feared arrest because of corrupt practices were on the container with the Maulana,” said the prime minister, adding that the interest of the opposition politicians and the interest of Pakistan are different.
“Their effort was focused on pressurising and blackmailing.”
