LAHORE: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has criticised discretionary powers of provincial chief ministers for allocation of funds and wants the power be withdrawn.

He took to Twitter on Friday and also expressed anger over the performance of the Punjab government. He said there should be funds allocation formula for the districts on the pattern of centre’s formula for allocation of funds to provinces. The provinces should have allocation formula for districts, he added.
On the other hand, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry is among the 318 lawmakers whose membership of Senate, federal and provincial assemblies has been suspended by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for not submitting statements of assets.
The list was released by the ECP on Thursday and includes the names of lawmakers, both federal and provincial, who have been suspended due to their failure to submit a list of their assets and liabilities by the end of year 2019.
