HDIP asked to check POL stocks with OMCs, refineries and retail outlets

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has asked the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) to physically check and confirm on an urgent basis the availability of petrol and diesel with all oil marketing companies (OMCs), retail outlets and refineries.

According to sources, OGRA has requested the HDIP director general to urgently start inspection and verify petroleum products’ availability at depots of OMCs, retail outlets and refineries storage, and submit a report in this regard latest by June 3, 2020.

The decision was taken to ensure that sufficient product (MS & HSD) was available in the country, sources said, adding that the inspection charges would be borne by the concerned OMC and refinery.

Meanwhile, OGRA has also directed OMCs to provide depot-wise sales and stock data in respect of MS & HSD of the past three months (March, April, May 2020) by June 1, 2020, sources said.

The OMCs were warned that in case of their failure to provide the above information/confirmation within the stipulated time, legal action would be initiated against them as per law.
