–PM Imran performs groundbreaking of Timargarh-Khar-Mamad Gat Road in Bajaur, inaugurates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Nahakki Tunnel in Mohmand
–Says govt committed to establishing such industries in tribal districts that could facilitate exports to Afghanistan and Central Asia
MOHMAND: Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured to provide all possible funds for the socio-economic development of tribal districts.
Addressing notables in Mohmand on Monday, the prime minister said that the Ministry of Planning has been given directions in this regard.
The PM pointed out that the tribal districts lag far behind in development. He said, “Our focus is to establish such industries in the tribal districts which could export goods to Afghanistan and up to the Central Asian States.”
Imran Khan said border markets are also being opened which will provide opportunities to the local people to trade with Afghanistan.
“Our enemy wants to stoke anarchy in the tribal districts and is supporting and providing funds to those elements who were opposed to the merger of tribal districts with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the PM warned. “Hence, no stone be left turned to meet the development needs of these neglected areas.”
Imran Khan said the focus of the present government is to uplift the weaker segments of the society and develop the backward areas including those in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.
Alluding to the commencement of talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, the Prime Minister said, “We pray for the successful outcome of the negotiations.” He said that peace in Afghanistan will open new vistas of opportunities for the people of tribal districts. He, however, warned that there are elements which do not want peace in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the ground breaking of Timargarh-Khar-Mamad Gat Road in Bajaur and inaugurated Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road and Nahakki Tunnel in Mohmand district.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and other government functionaries were present on the occasion.
Addressing the notables there, the PM expressed confidence that the construction of road infrastructure in the tribal districts will promote both tourism and trade. He said the road infrastructure will connect the tribal districts with the rest of the country.
Imran Khan expressed the government’s commitment to promoting education in the tribal districts so that the local people could earn their livelihoods. The prime minister said each family in the tribal districts will be provided with the health cards under which they will be able to secure health care services worth seven hundred and fifty thousand rupees annually.
Imran Khan said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken major steps towards realizing the dream of Islamic welfare state by announcing to provide health cards to each household in the province. He said the present government wants to build Pakistan on the principles of Riyasat-e-Madina.
Later in Peshawar, Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated a surgical and allied services block at the Lady Reading Hospital.
Addressing the doctors and health professionals on this occasion, the prime minister said reforms have been introduced in all sectors including the health system to ensure transparency and maintain a system of check and balance.
He said the Medical Teachings Institutions Act has been implemented in the health sector to improve healthcare in hospitals. He stressed meritocracy in all departments of the government for justice and transparency.
He said no system can work effectively without a proper system of reward.
