Motorists in Islamabad given fuel measurement facility

ISLAMABAD: Motorists in the federal capital have been given the facility to check the measurement of fuel dispensers installed at any fuel station of the city.

“The facility is being provided under the Islamabad Capital Territory’s (ICT) initiative ‘Quantity on Spot Check’ to remove concerns about incorrect measures at petrol pumps,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat told APP on Sunday.

He said the initiative was aimed at building confidence between motorists and fuel stations’ management, besides keeping a check on short measuring by some filling stations.

“The administration will continue to encourage customer-centric programmes,” the DC remarked.

Initially, he said that the facility would be available at Shell fueling stations whereas the scope was being extended to other petrol pumps to provide maximum relief to the masses.

Moreover, ICT teams responsible for weight and measuring are conducting regular raids on fuel stations across the city and those found in less measuring are being sealed at the spot.

  1. A bold step in the right direction! It should be lauded and supported by the citizens.

My only recommendation would be that, the government agency responsible should extend it to all companies and not absolve itself from it’s own duties in this respect.
