‘Cabinet to review NCOC proposals for acquiring Covid-19 vaccine tomorrow’

Planning Minister Asad Umar has announced that the National Command and Operating Centre (NCOC) has finalised its recommendations for the procurement of vaccines for Covid-19.

In a tweet on Monday, Umar said that the recommendations will be presented to the cabinet tomorrow for approval. He stated, “The task force of experts headed by SAPM health Dr Faisal Sultan had developed the recommendations which were discussed and finalized today.”

It may be mentioned here that the government had allocated initial funds totalling $150 million to buy a coronavirus vaccine directly from international manufacturers by the second quarter of 2021.

According to The Brecorder, although Pakistan will get the vaccine for free from Gavi, the delivery has been delayed, which is why the government is making arrangements to buy the vaccine directly from companies.
