Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari quelled any questions about dissent within the ranks of the 11-party anti-government alliance and declared that a win for the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is a win for the PPP.
“Our CEC [Central Executive Committee] has endorsed every decision of the PDM,” he added while addressing reporters in Thatta. He said this in reply to Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed’s comments about the PDM’s defeat.
“I understand that PDM’s win is PPP’s win and PPP’s win is PDM’s win so we are one. When PDM wins the people of Pakistan win,” he said.
He said that in spite of the conspiracies of the ministers, the alliance is as strong as ever.
He reiterated the decisions about the upcoming by-polls and any other elections would be made with consensus.
Bilawal further said that the PDM was looking for “relief” for the people, not some NRO-like agreement. He opined that the ruling party only brought up the NRO to criticise the PDM, but added that the public could “clearly see through these tactics”.
The PPP chief maintained that the alliance was instead seeking “democracy, [a] level playing field, and an end to unemployment, inflation and poverty”.
Bilawal, while condemning the killing of 11 coal miner in the Machh area of Balochistan, said that there is no implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) since Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came into power. Rulers should immediately start the implementation of NAP, he stressed.
The PPP chairman further said that such incidents could have been avoided if ministers, instead of focusing on PDM, paid attention to their job.
