Pakistan, Saudi Arabia vow to deepen ties, expand defence and economic cooperation

Shehbaz, MBS agree to strengthen regional security coordination and boost investment

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to elevate their bilateral partnership and strengthen defence and security cooperation, recognizing the importance of joint efforts to address regional security challenges.

The commitment was reiterated during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The meeting took place during the prime minister’s four-day visit to the Kingdom.

The prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Both sides reviewed bilateral ties and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in economic, trade, investment, energy, and defence sectors. They expressed satisfaction with the growing economic collaboration and emphasized the need to strengthen people-to-people ties, cultural exchanges, and educational cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to increasing investments in key sectors, which he said would contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth and stability.

The leaders also held in-depth discussions on the evolving regional and geopolitical landscape and agreed to work closely at all levels to promote their shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman acknowledged the contributions of the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia and agreed to enhance measures for their welfare.

The two leaders reaffirmed their resolve to elevate the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia partnership, guided by mutual respect, shared interests, and a common vision for progress and prosperity.
