Kazakhstan signals intention to join TAPI pipeline

The Kazakh ambassador describes Pakistan as a key regional partner for enhancing economic connectivity and scientific development

Kazakhstan has decided to join the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, strengthening its role in regional energy cooperation.

The announcement was made during a meeting between the Kazakh Ambassador and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, in Islamabad. Discussions also covered expanding collaboration in education, science, and technology.

Khalid Hussain Magsi stated that both countries are finalizing several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to boost cooperation in the education sector. He welcomed Kazakhstan’s proposal to set up a joint research center at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

The Kazakh ambassador stressed the need for a better business environment and proposed joint efforts to curb smuggling. He described Pakistan as a key regional partner in Kazakhstan’s strategy for enhancing economic connectivity and scientific development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building strong strategic ties across multiple sectors, reflecting a shared interest in regional growth and innovation.
