Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda expressed concern on Monday over the rising uncertainty in both global and domestic economies, largely driven by U.S. tariff policies.
Speaking to Japan’s parliament, Ueda warned that U.S. tariffs could exert downward pressure on both the global and Japanese economies through multiple channels.
He emphasized that the Bank of Japan (BOJ) would continue to adjust its monetary policy as necessary, with a primary focus on achieving its 2% inflation target. Ueda highlighted that the central bank would carefully monitor economic, price, and financial developments, ensuring that no preconceptions guide its decisions.
