After the introduction of the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles, has announced the upcoming launch of its Shark 6 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in Pakistan.
The news of the launch of Shark 6 PHEV has already generated considerable excitement, as BYD announced the vehicle’s arrival in a Facebook post with a sleek image and the message “COMING SOON.”
Scheduled for a mid-2025 launch, this hybrid pickup truck is expected to combine the efficiency of electric power with the rugged performance of a traditional petrol engine.
The Shark 6 PHEV, which will be available for booking by late April or early May, uses a hybrid system that blends electricity and petrol, offering better fuel efficiency and fewer emissions.
Initially, the first units of the Shark 6 PHEV will be imported as completely built units (CBUs), but BYD plans to begin local assembly in 2026.
This move is expected to contribute to Pakistan’s economy by creating jobs and stimulating the local manufacturing sector.
As more automakers shift toward hybrid and electric vehicles, the launch of the Shark 6 PHEV represents a significant step toward a greener future for Pakistan’s automotive market.
