Govt set to present next fiscal year’s budget before Eid ul-Adha

Budget presentation expected between June 3-5, with IMF consultations scheduled before the session

The federal government has decided to present the budget for the next fiscal year before Eid ul-Adha, which is expected to take place on June 7.

According to sources within the Ministry of Finance, the budget session in parliament is likely to be convened a few days earlier, with the presentation expected between June 3 and June 5.

The passage of the money bill will follow shortly after the Eid holidays. In preparation for the budget, government officials will hold consultations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), whose mission is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 14.

These discussions are expected to focus on finalizing key aspects such as the annual tax revenue targets and the development budget.

Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb is also set to travel to the United States to attend the IMF and World Bank annual meetings, scheduled to take place in Washington between April 21 and April 26.
