Iran cuts electricity supply to Makran Division, causing load management issues

Qesco addresses voltage fluctuations and additional load shedding due to reduced power quota; Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni, and Ormara grid stations to be impacted

The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has said that Iran has reduced its electricity supply to the Makran Division, resulting in load management issues and voltage fluctuations in several areas.

A spokesperson for Qesco stated that the region is currently receiving only 20MW of electricity through the 132kV Polan-Jiwani transmission line, which serves Jiwani, Gwadar II, Rehwar Industrial, Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni, and Ormara grid stations.

Additionally, only 7MW of electricity is being supplied through the 132kV Pishin-Mand transmission line, which provides power to Mand and Tump grid stations.

Despite these reductions, 53MW of electricity continues to be supplied from grid stations in Panjgur, Hoshab, Turbat, and the 220kV Industrial Grid Station.

The reduced power supply has led to increased load management and voltage fluctuations in the affected areas. Qesco assured residents that efforts are being made to address these issues, with hopes of returning to normal once the electricity quota from Iran is increased.

The company also apologized to consumers in the Makran Division for the inconvenience caused by the reduced supply and appealed for their cooperation in managing the situation.
