Sales of Tesla cars in Germany fell 60 percent in June to 1,860 units, according to the country’s road traffic agency Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).
The decline comes despite a rise in overall battery electric vehicle registrations, which grew 8.6 percent during the same month.
In the first half of 2025, Tesla sold 8,890 cars in Germany, down 58.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The drop in sales highlights the company’s ongoing struggle in key European markets.
Tesla’s sales have fallen for six consecutive months in countries including France, Sweden, Denmark, and Italy. The decline follows increased competition from newer models by other automakers and a drop in the public image of CEO Elon Musk.
Meanwhile, Chinese carmaker BYD saw strong growth in Germany. KBA said BYD sold 1,675 vehicles in June, nearly four times more than the same month last year. Since the beginning of the year, its sales rose more than fivefold to 6,323 units.
