ISLAMABAD — Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has reported a significant boost in oil and gas production from its Rajian-05 well in Chakwal following the installation of an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP). According to the company, oil output from the well has increased from 820 barrels per day to 3,100 barrels per day, while gas production has doubled to 1.0 million standard cubic feet per day.
The enhancement follows a planned workover and artificial lift system deployment as part of OGDCL’s broader strategy to improve recovery from existing fields. Rajian Field, discovered in 1994 and held under the Gujar Khan Exploration License, is a wholly owned and operated asset of OGDCL.
This is the third well in the Rajian Field to utilize an ESP, which traditionally has been reserved for low-producing or shut-in wells. OGDCL has begun applying this technology to flowing wells where technical and economic assessments support the move. The company said the intervention at Rajian-05 underscores its effort to optimize domestic energy resources, enhance recovery efficiency, and align operations with international best practices.
The Rajian redevelopment reflects OGDCL’s approach of using targeted, data-driven methods to extend field life and maintain output. The company said such efforts are critical to ensuring energy security and long-term sustainability in Pakistan’s upstream oil and gas sector.
