Toyota reported record global production and sales for the first half of the year, driven by strong demand in North America, Japan, and China.
The company said on Wednesday that global sales from January to June rose 5.5% year-on-year to over 5.1 million vehicles.
Hybrid models made up about 43% of total sales during the period. Global vehicle production also increased, rising 5.8% to 4.9 million units in the same timeframe.
In June alone, Toyota sold 867,906 vehicles worldwide, up 1.7% from a year earlier. Global production for the month reached 854,565 units, a 7.4% increase.
The figures include vehicles from Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus.
