Urges DISCOs to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adopt urgent safety measures to protect infrastructure

The Power Division has issued an emergency alert to all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) across the country in view of the prevailing flood situation, directing them to ensure uninterrupted power supply and adopt urgent safety measures to protect infrastructure.

According to the Power Division, all DISCOs have been instructed to take special measures for the protection of electricity infrastructure during heavy rains and flooding. Immediate steps are to be taken to safeguard substations, feeders, and control rooms to prevent disruptions in supply. Operational teams have been directed to remain on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation.

To monitor the evolving circumstances, a dedicated Flood Monitoring Cell has been established at the Power Division. All distribution companies have been ordered to submit situation reports twice a day, while daily consolidated reports will also be shared with the division. The DISCOs have further been directed to maintain close coordination with local disaster management authorities to ensure timely response and preventive action in case of emergencies.

The Power Division has declared the matter as extremely urgent and of critical importance, emphasizing that uninterrupted power supply and protection of infrastructure are top priorities during the ongoing flood crisis.
