The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar, has successfully intercepted a major smuggling operation, seizing goods worth approximately Rs79.5 million. The operation led to the confiscation of a ten-wheeler truck (registration number TKA-785) carrying a large consignment of illicit items.
Among the seized contraband were 222 cartons (11,100 sleeves) of foreign-origin cigarettes, 240 cartons (60,000 boxes) of Pan Paras hookah flavour, 1,800 kilograms of poppy seeds, and 1,150 packs of gutka. Both the goods and the vehicle were impounded in accordance with the Customs Act.
The interception is part of ongoing, intelligence-based efforts to combat smuggling and protect legitimate trade and revenue. Legal action has been initiated as per the prescribed rules.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement mechanisms and taking decisive steps against smuggling and illicit trade to ensure fair trade and economic stability.
