Pakistan’s petroleum product sales increased 13 percent year-on-year to 1.3 million tonnes in February 2026, reflecting improved economic activity and easing inflation, according to industry data.
However, sales declined 15 percent month-on-month, which analysts attributed to fewer working days during the month and higher diesel prices.
Data shows that total petroleum sales during July–February FY26 reached 10.96 million tonnes, compared with 10.55 million tonnes in the same period last year, representing a 4 percent increase.
Excluding furnace oil (FO), sales stood at 1.2 million tonnes in February, rising 14 percent year-on-year but falling 12 percent month-on-month. During the first eight months of the fiscal year, ex-FO sales reached 10.7 million tonnes, up 6 percent year-on-year.
Motor spirit (MS) sales reached 621,000 tonnes in February, increasing 12 percent year-on-year but declining 3 percent month-on-month.
High-speed diesel (HSD) sales increased 22 percent year-on-year to 523,000 tonnes, though they dropped 21 percent month-on-month, mainly due to higher diesel prices.
Average motor spirit prices rose to Rs255.67 per litre in February from Rs253.17 per litre in January, representing a 1 percent month-on-month increase.
Similarly, high-speed diesel prices increased 6 percent to Rs272.04 per litre in February from Rs257.08 per litre in January.
Furnace oil sales fell 16 percent year-on-year and 57 percent month-on-month to 44,000 tonnes in February.
Among oil marketing companies, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded sales of 537,000 tonnes in February, up 14 percent year-on-year but down 14 percent month-on-month.
PSO’s market share in motor spirit stood at 38.94 percent and 43.39 percent in high-speed diesel, reflecting month-on-month increases of 106 basis points and 64 basis points, respectively.
Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) reported sales of 10,200 tonnes, remaining unchanged year-on-year but declining 24 percent month-on-month, mainly due to lower diesel sales.
Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited recorded sales of 10,900 tonnes, up 30 percent year-on-year but down 11 percent month-on-month, while Hascol Petroleum sold 44,000 tonnes, rising 4 percent year-on-year but declining 10 percent month-on-month.
Meanwhile, the government has set a petroleum development levy (PDL) collection target of Rs1.47 trillion for FY26, of which Rs991 billion, or about 67 percent, has already been collected during the first eight months of the fiscal year.
