Pakistan's car sales rise 42% YoY to 17,121 units in Feb, fall 26% MoM

Pakistan’s passenger car sales reached 17,121 units in February 2026, up 42% compared with the same month last year but down 26% from January, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association.

The February figures brought cumulative car sales during the first eight months of FY26 to 128,498 units, representing a 43% increase compared with 89,770 units recorded in the same period last year.

Topline Pakistan Research analysts attributed the month-on-month decline mainly to a high base effect as January typically records higher vehicle registrations at the start of the year, along with fewer working days in February. The year-on-year growth was supported by new market entrants, relatively lower interest rates, easing inflation and improved economic activity.

Among manufacturers, Pak Suzuki Motor Company reported sales of 8,160 units in February, up 53% from the same month last year but down 25% from January.

Indus Motor Company recorded sales of 3,817 units, showing a 46% increase on a yearly basis but a 25% decline compared with the previous month. Sales of Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross models rose 70% year-on-year but fell 24% month-on-month to 3,102 units, while Fortuner and IMV sales dropped 10% year-on-year and 27% from January to 715 units.

Sales of two- and three-wheelers reached 159,512 units in February, up 24% from a year earlier but down 12% from January. Cumulative sales in this segment reached about 1.3 million units during the first eight months of FY26, marking a 31% increase year-on-year.

Truck and bus sales reached 664 units, rising 37% from the same period last year but falling 40% compared with January.

Topline Pakistan Research said the auto sector could maintain growth momentum during the remainder of 2026, supported by lower financing costs, introduction of hybrid models and improving economic conditions.
