PAA issues NOTAM for temporary Islamabad airport suspension, Lahore airspace curbs

The Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a fresh Notice to Airmen announcing temporary flight restrictions affecting Islamabad airport operations and parts of Lahore airspace on March 16.

Under the notice, commercial landings and takeoffs at Islamabad International Airport will remain suspended from 8:30am to 10:30am, while six sectors within the Lahore Flight Information Region will also be temporarily closed the same day.

The NOTAM said aircraft already airborne for Islamabad during the suspension window may be required to remain in holding until operations resume. Pilots have also been instructed to carry additional fuel to cater for the possible delay before landing.

No reason was provided in the notice for the temporary restriction, though separate PAA communication described the suspension at Islamabad airport as being due to operational reasons.
