Pakistan assures security for US companies working on Reko Diq project
Interior Minister and US Assistant Secretary of State discuss regional security, counterterrorism cooperation and restoration of direct flights during a meeting with S Paul Kapur

Pakistan has assured the United States of security arrangements for American companies working on the Reko Diq project, one of Pakistan’s largest foreign investment ventures.
The assurance came during a Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s meeting with S Paul Kapur, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, to discuss Pakistan-US relations, regional security issues and bilateral cooperation.
Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and senior officials also attended the meeting.
As per reports, discussions included operational frameworks aimed at ensuring long-term investor confidence in the Reko Diq project.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan-US relations had strengthened during the tenure of Donald Trump and described bilateral ties as based on mutual trust, shared objectives and cooperation.
The interior minister said Pakistan remained committed to cooperation with the United States in counterterrorism and counter-narcotics efforts.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s interest in the early restoration of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States, saying the move could support business activity, academic exchanges and engagement with the Pakistani diaspora.
The meeting also covered the evolving situation in the Middle East, with Naqvi expressing hope for a peaceful and lasting resolution to regional tensions.
S Paul Kapur acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, while both sides agreed to continue engagement on security cooperation and institutional coordination.
