National Highway Authority auctions 81 toll plazas, generates over Rs1 billion in revenue

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has generated more than Rs1.06 billion above its revenue target after completing the auction of 81 out of 93 toll plazas across the country for FY2026-27.

According to the NHA, winning bids averaged around 30% above reserve prices, reflecting strong participation from private operators and logistics companies.

The auction was conducted by General Manager (Revenue/ITS) Sadaqat Ullah Akhunzada in accordance with approved procedures and terms, the authority said.

Major bidders securing operational rights at various toll plazas included the National Logistics Cell (NLC), Ali Enterprises, Muhammad Ramzan & Company and Gohar Hayat.

Among the highest monthly bids, Jamshoro toll plaza attracted Rs156.67 million, while Sangjani toll plaza on the N-5 highway secured a monthly bid of Rs134.85 million.

The largest percentage increases over reserve prices were recorded at the Bewata toll plaza on the N-70 and the Nokundi toll plaza on the N-40, where bids exceeded reserve prices by 880% and 154%, respectively.

Twelve toll plazas remain unawarded due to administrative and legal issues. According to the NHA, one plaza is subject to ongoing court proceedings, nine received no bids, and two failed to attract any registrations.

The authority said the auction process for the remaining toll plazas would continue to complete the allocation of all sites.
