10th IGATEX Pakistan 2017 exhibition kicks off today

In the backdrop of improved law and order situation of the city, the exhibitors and organizers of international Pakistan textile machinery and Garment technology exhibition, 10th IGATEX Pakistan 2017, are optimistic about achieving their targets as more than 550 international and local manufacturers of textile machinery and technology from 35 countries are gearing up to showcase their latest products at the four-day long exhibition being held from today at the Karachi Expo Centre.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday at Karachi Expo Centre, Saleem Khan Tanoli, CEO of FAKT Exhibitions informed the media that among others 73 companies from Italy, 70 from Germany, 50 Chinese, 25 Turkish and 80 Pakistani companies will display their products. Some 20 companies from India are also participating through their representatives in the exhibition, he added.

Tanoli was of the view that at present, the country needs modern technology and machinery to increase its falling textile exports. “Even some companies are ready to introduce their product in the exhibition for the first time,” he informed.

IGATEX Pakistan 2017 is the biggest event of textile and garment, chemical and dyes machinery that attracts thousands of visitors, breaking its own records, Tanoli noted adding that the event will play a catalyst role in increasing the exports of Pakistan.

He stressed the need for the introduction of the latest technology and machinery in the country in order to minimize the growing trade imbalance. “Country’s exports will only increase if we go for latest technology and value addition. Bangladesh, despite being a cotton deficient country has around $35 billion worth of exports in only the apparel sector,” Saleem Khan Tanoli noted.

The exhibition is playing a vital role in the introduction of the most modern machinery to the local industrialists, which will ultimately give a significant boost to the national economy, he viewed.

Briefing about the previous experience of the exhibition, which is being held since 2002, Tanoli told that despite of the unfavorable economical, law and order situation in Pakistan, over a 100 companies participated in the first edition of the exhibition, the number which has now jumped up to a staggering 550 companies that will show up at 2017.

Pakistan’s federal government has announced incentives for the import of the textile machinery with the aim to boost local production capacity and in return enhance exports of the country, he added.
