Ambassador of China, Sun Weidong met with President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Zubair F Tufail.
They exchanged views on China-Pakistan trade cooperation, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other issues in a warm and cordial manner.
Zubair stated that as an all-weather strategic cooperative partner of China, Pakistan admires the development achieved by China and would like to learn from it. CPEC will bring active and profound benefits to the Pakistani people. Due to structural disadvantages of products, Pakistan faces a deficit in its trade with China. Zubair expressed his hope that the two countries can join hands in promoting Pakistan’s export to China, thereby alleviating the trade imbalance.
Ambassador Sun said that China-Pakistan relations are continuously deepening and with CPEC being implemented smoothly, the people of both the countries are benefiting and bilateral trade cooperation is enjoying new opportunities. The Chinese side attaches high importance to bilateral trade balance and has never sought for unilateral surplus. The Chinese side welcomes Pakistan’s exporting products that are popular in the Chinese markets and would like to further facilitate in this regard. The Chinese further believe that with the the smooth implementation of CPEC projects, energy supply and transportation infrastructure of Pakistan would be significantly improved, and therefore, the investment and business environment would be enhanced. The Chinese are also willing to promote contact, dialogue and cooperation between the two business and industrial communities in order to strengthen industrial cooperation, enhance international competitiveness of Pakistan’s industries and further promote the healthy progress of bilateral trade.
