Tax Directory 2016: HBL, MCB top tax payers list

Islamabad: The tax directory prepared by the Federal Board of Revenue for 2016 and released by the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday, shed light on the top corporate taxpayers in Pakistan.

Topping the list was Habib Bank Limited (HBL), which paid a tax of Rs16.472b and Muslim Commercial Bank Limited which paid a tax of Rs16,167b.

Bank Alfalah paid taxes worth Rs4.171b, Askari Bank Limited Rs2.506b, Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) Rs5.653b, Allied Bank Limited Rs8.878b, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Rs3.246b, Sindh Bank Limited Rs1.798b, Meezan Bank Limited Rs1.664b, National Bank of Pakistan Rs7.050b and Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited Rs4.973b.

Notable mentions are Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) which paid taxes worth Rs2.713b, Pakistan Telecommunication Limited Rs1.105b, Telenor Pakistan Rs3.730b, Pak-Arab Refinery Limited Rs10.362b, Bestway Cement Limited Rs3.019b, Pakistan State Oil Rs8.161b, Indus Motors Rs5.480b and Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited Rs3.13b.

Other big tax payers include Nestle Pakistan who paid taxes worth Rs4.033b, Fauji Fertilizers Rs6.500b, Pepsi-Cola International Private Limited Rs2.140b, Lucky Cement Rs4.545b, Kot Addu Power Company Rs5.029b, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Rs 4.253b, Government Holding Private Limited Rs7.966b, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Rs26.08b and Unilever Pakistan Rs3.101b.
